School of the Art Institute of Chicago

1866년 35명의 예술가들에 의해 일리노이주 시카고에 설립되었으며, 미국에서 가장 크고 명성 있는 예술 디자인 학교 중 하나로 성장하였습니다. 현대미술의 대표적인 작가로 손꼽히는 제프 쿤스(Jeff Koons) 등 많은 유명 작가들을 배출한 곳입니다.

시카고 다운타운에 위치하여 현대적이고 아름다운 환경 속에서 작품활동을 할 수 있으며 다양한 분야의 전공이 유명하지만 그 중 순수미술 분야로 특히 유명합니다. 학교와 함께 운영되는 시카고 현대 미술관(The Art Institute of Chicago)은 뉴욕 메트로폴리탄, 보스턴 미술관과 함께 미국 3대 미술관의 하나로 꼽히며 세잔, 쇠라, 고흐 등의 유명 작품들이 전시되어 있습니다. 많은 학생들이 목표로 하는 명문대학이지만 학부 신입학의 경우 맨하튼 내의 학교보다 수월한 편입니다.
